MTB Grand Tour in Umbrian Appennine

  • This package features MTB trails across the most charming mountains of centraly Italy located in the southern part of Umbria region. Daily itineraries are challenging but affordable and allow to enjoy nature, breathtaking views, visit to interesting and picturesque sites including main highlights of this area as well as hidden treasures which are worth a stop.   

    DAY ONE - Today's itinerary features Piediluco Lake (375 m. / 1230 ft a.s.l.), with the tiny village built by local fishermen in ancient times bearing same name. Enjoy a pleasant walk along lake shores and experience a ferry minicruise across the quiet water of the lake. Riding your bike you will reach the hamlet of Stroncone perched along the slope of a mountain, on top of which are the enchanting Plateau of Stroncone (900 m / 3000 ft a.s.l.): here there will be a stop to eat and recover. Riding along a dirt patch crossing centuries-old chestnut tree woods will proceed towards Miranda, located on panoramic position to then arrive to Arrone, where there will be accommodation for the night. Along the way there will be a stop to admire the incredibly beautiful Marmore Waterfall, second highest in Europe and man-made by the Romans in III century b.C.  .

    DAY TWO - Will leave Arrone towards Collestatte, to then reach through a hilly trail Poggio Lavarino. From here will proceed along the  Valserra allowing interesting views over picturesque landscape. The trail runs up the slope on dirt patch until you reach Cima Forca (665 m / 2180 ft a.s.l.), to then start descending along single track to finally reach Portaria, where there will be a break to refresh and recover tasting delicious local products. Will then proceed towards the marvellous Archaeological Park of Carsulae with the ruins of an ancient Roman town set along the Via Flaminia Consular Road. Will then ride towards Cesi, another enchanting hamlet from which will start the last climb of the day ending up at the panoramic point of Sant'Erasmo and at the ruins of Torre Maggiore (1.121 m / 3670 ft a.s.l.) from here ups and downs will lead to Macerino (665 m / 2180 ft a.s.l.) for dinner and overnight.

    DAY THREE - Willleave Macerino to ride back towardsPiediluco lake. On the way will cross the mountain area of Montebibico and Cecalocco (770 m / 2520 ft a.s.l.), reaching again Arrone and then climbing up again along dirt patch towards Madonna dello Scoglio, from which a breathtaking views over the Valnerina - Valley of Nera River are available.
