International exhibit on Lawerence from Arabia in Arrone
The tourists who come to Marmore Falls have inside an adventure spirit able to move the mythical Lawrence from Arabia, when he excited the Middle East earth at the beginning of the XX century. From 19th to 24th May in Arrone, 6 kms far form the Falls, will be an exhibit dedicated to him and titled “ from the Azrak castle to the Arrone castle”.
It has been organized by the “Castle committee” (non-profitmaking associations). The exhibit is for most of the part with photos of the first years of XX century, enriched by the object collections of the time linked to the first world war, to England of the after Victorian age and the Near East still under the Ottoman domination. 90 books, almost all antiques with rare edition, not for sale, numbered and signed from the authors. You can see, togheter with the books, some pamphlets, some collections of authentic Arabian antique daggers, coins, medals, postcardsand newspapers of the period, objects of Turkish and Arabian handicraft.
A very interesting and beautiful idea. Very appreciated also outside the local border. In England, where the Wareham Town Museum of Dorset that the Lawrence Society of Oxford, wanted provide its patronage. The Professor Franco Cardini (University of Florence) essayist/historian and director of the Centre for Studies of East Arts and Culture by the international university of Arts. “ We are very happy to be invited for a collaboration and project about the exhibit already did on Lawrence from Arabia in Florence, thanks to the Maraini foundation in Palazzo Strozzi”, is the answer of the “Castle Committee” to the proposes of the Professor.
